It was a sad day Sunday at Thermal when Zeus and Iceman were loaded onto a van and headed away to their new home. Erin, who is a long time rider at HEF and also Denise's little sister, is moving with her family to Northern California. Zeus was with HEF for 6 1/2 years, and Iceman for 2 1/2. They were part of our family, and their stalls are so sad without them in them. We wish Erin and her boys much luck on their new adventure together. We miss you already.

Congrats Julia Hanssen on her new horse Buddha!! Thank you Kim at So Cal Hunter Jumpers, and Michelle Parker for helping us find this wonderful and talented horse. Julia will be mainly showing in the equitation with Buddha, however with his talent can show in any ring she'd like.

2011

12-22-11
What a fantastic year 2011 was. We were so busy with the move, lessons and showing that I completely let the show updates go here on the website. We had a great season, and I wish I could remember all them any highlights. Congrats to all that went out and showed with us this year. I'm very proud of everyone.

We started off the show year at HITS Thermal weeks V & VI. 9 horses attended week V which happened to be the largest horse show HITS Thermal has EVER seen!! Classes were insanely large and we stayed competitive with wins in the jumpers, eq and hunters. Congrats to Erin Walters on her Championship on A Nice Horse in the AA Jumpers week V with over 30 entries in her division. She was the only rider to place every day! Angelina Casiello also competed in the AA jumpers on her Notorious staying competitive as well. Congrats to Keegan Rawls and her Luke Skywalker on the win in her Hunter classic as well as wins over fences in the hunters. Maddie Wedderspoon won her 13-14 EQ flat on Rockwell's Finest out of 26. Marriane Love and her green horse Steele pinned in their hunters, eq over, and even took a 2nd out of 17 in the hunters U/S. Analiese Bernhard and her Timeless rode in the hunters together and really worked on just figuring each other out. They stayed in the ribbons, with a 3rd in their hunter classic! Katie and Julia Hanssen were stars on their horses Anonymous and Buddha in all three rings. There are so many results, it would be hard to put them all out there. But congrats to the horse and rider teams that competed.

Erin Walters on Corporate Funds
Erin Walters on A Nice Horse
Angelina Casiello on Notorious
Katie Hanssen on Anonymous
Julia Hanssen on Buddha
Marianne Love on Steele
Keegan Rawls on Luke Skywalker
Analiese Bernhard on Timeless
Madison Wedderspoon on Rockwell's Finest

2010

Well I already know what my new years resolution is going to be... Keep the website up better in 2011. I'm sorry for not getting show results up this year like I used to!

Congrats to all that showed on HEF's show team this year. I couldn't be more proud! We had a great season from Thermal to Vegas and every where in between.

For up to date results please look on www.horseshowtime.com and search Denise Finch as trainer. Thanks!

Blenheim Summer Classic 1 @ The Oaks

Only 3 horses/riders attended this show, but boy did we hold our own! Each horse and rider combo took home multiple blues, a Champion AND a Res. Champion ribbon. Congrats to Marianne & her "Steele" on their first show ever, Katie Hanssen and her "Anonymous" on yet another great showing (Winning both her eq flats again!), and Analiese & her "Luke Skywalker" on another Championship in the Hunters! You girls could not have made me more proud. Way to go!!

Santa Barbara National 'A' -July

Six horses attended with seven riders. Many of which had big first such as first show with HEF, first show on a new horse, first A show, first show ever, or first show in over 25 years. Everyone did amazing!
Kelly took her Rockwell's finest to not only their first show together, but Kelly's first show ever! She showed him in the Long stirrup division taking Res. Champion and winning her eq over fences 2'! Keegan also rode Rockwell's finest in the Short Stirrup and Juvenile jumpers with great pinnings. Keegan catch rode Rocky as her horse she was going to show, was pulled only two weeks before we left! She rose the occasion and we were all impressed with her horsemanship & sportsmanship!

Erin took her "A Nice Horse" to show in the Low AA and High AA jumpers. She was steady in the ribbons all week pinning in the top 3 consistently in the Low AA's to take the Res. Champion out of 35 entries. Way to go Erin!

Bonnie took HEF's Notorious to show in the Low and High AA jumpers as well. This was Bonnie's show of big firsts. She hadn't shown in 25 years, had never shown in the jumpers, with Notorious or HEF! She pinned amazingly in all her classes and was even 6th in the AA classic!

Analiese took her "Luke Skywalker" and showed him in the Short Stirrup, Juvenile Hunters/Eq, and the Juvenile Jumpers. They were Champion of the Juvenile Hunters/Eq and pinned high in the rest of their classes.

Julia Hanssen took her new horse "Carpe Diem" to their first show together only having him for two months. They really got to know each other showing in the same classes as Analiese. There was much knowledge gained, and a pile of ribbons to take home at the end of the week. Even taking great ribbons in the jumpers (Charlie is not so much the jumper!)

Katie Hanssen took her "Anonymous" showing him in the same divisions as her sister and barn mates. She was Reserve Champion of her Juvenile Hunters/Eq, won both her equitation flats over the week, and was Champion out of 15 in the Juvenile Jumpers. It was their first A show, second show together ever, and first time ever doing jumpers!

Oaks BES County - March

Congrats to all riders who attended the BES show in March. We had a terrific show against great company.

Analiese Bernhard and her Luke Skywalker went the their second show together showing in Crossrails & Short Stirrup with a great results. Crossrails: 1, 3, 3, 4 Short Stirrup Hunters: 1, 4, 6 Short Stirrup Equitation: o/f 2, 6 flat

Katie Hanssen took her Anonymous to their second horse show together, her first out of state show, and her very first time showing over fences. Her results were amazing. Way to go Katie!!
Crossrails: 1, 4, 4, 3 Short Stirrup Hunters: 2, 3, 5, 7, Short Stirrup Eq: 1 on the flat, 4 o/f.

Julia Hanssen borrowed Analiese's Luke Skywalker for the show. (Also her first out of state show, and first time competing at 2'6") Only having ridden him 5 times prior to the show they sure hit it off!! They were Champion of the Green Rider Hunters with two 1sts, and two 4ths. They were also first in the Maiden Eq O/F, and 2nd on the flat. Way to go Julia!!

Keegan Rawls borrowed HEF's Platinum Edition for her first out of state show. She overcame some personal demons and ended on a high note. While she was not victorious in ribbons, I think the lessons learned were priceless & we will see good things from Keegan this year. Way to go Keegs!

Thermal Week IV Feb
Thermal Week IV Feb
Wow what an amazing first show. Angelina & Notorious moved up to the 1.20M jumpers with an amazing first effort finishing the course with 2 rails. Congrats on some great riding!!

Erin & A Nice Horse were in the ribbons all week long finishing with a win in the AA 18-35 Jumpers

Madison Wedderspoon & Class Act attended HITS as their first show together. They were constantly in the ribbons (2nds, 3rds) in the competitive 12-13 age div Equitation, were reserve champions of the Novice Junior Equitation, and Won the Bit O'Straw Hunter Classic together. As well as top prizes in the Modified Childrens Hunters. Way to go Maddie!

Roxy & Accenti CH had some wonderful personal victories and I think really figured out some things together this show. While no top placing in the ribbons happened at this show, I see a bright year ahead of them! Sometimes the personal victories out weight the ribbons anyway!

Analiese & her Luke Skywalker had many first together at Thermal. It was Annie's first A rated show, first out of state show, first show over fences moving up from walk trot, first show on Luke, and only her second horse show ever. Annie kept herself & Luke in top placing in the Pre-Ch Hunters, took home two thirds and WIN in her Short stirrup equitation over fences and she also WON the Pre-CH/AA Hunter Classic!!

Max Factor went to be schooled around and was taken by Del Mar Meadows on trial. We miss him here at home but hope he is being the saint we know he is for Del Mar Meadows.

With our whirlwind of summer and fall shows I completely forgot to update the website. Sorry!

Show Park - July

Straight after packing up at SB we headed down to Del Mar, CA for a show at Showpark. Sending a few home, and bringing a few others we had yet another great week. Results to come soon!!!

Thank you to Everardo Hegewisch for "baby sitting" Naturally The Best for 3 weeks and showing him in his first time ever doing the jumpers, and on the grass. He LOVED the grass field and kept himself in the ribbons the entire time. He is going to make an amazing jumper for someone. Looking forward to sending "Tommy" back to Everardo in the fall for some more show time.

Santa Barbara National - July
With 8 horses attending we had an amazing week.

Cathy Nicastro took her new project horse "Mighty Mo" for schooling around the jumper ring and put some great positive miles on Mo. We learned a lot about him and are looking forward to the next show!

Diane Vogelzang took her daughter's "Asterix 311" to spin him around the 2'9" jumpers, and the Adult Hunters. They pinned in all their classes, and were double clear in 3 out of 4 rounds only to pull a rail in one of jump offs. Congrats Diane on an amazing show. For sure your best one ever!

The England Family sent their young pony "My Private Jet" down to be ridden by Maddie W. for some schooling. Jet jumped around the rings drawing everyones eye. He also was ridden by Madison England in the Leadline which was completely adorable. Gracie Mendoza rode Jet in her first ever Walk Trot show receiving three 3rds and a 2nd. For green riders and the green pony it was a great show.

Laura Tracy and her Twenty Twenty went to their first show together! They pinned 2nds in their over fences and top of the class for their flat!! Twenty Twenty was also ridden by Phoebe Mendoza who was Reserve Champion in walk/trot, also won the eq. This was Phoebe's first show ever! Great riding ladies!

Roxanne Tracy took her Accenti CH and rode for the first time "indoors" in the dome. They sure learned a lot and by the end of the week were kicking some butt! Roxy also took Accenti in some small hunters and eq and did extremely well!

Delani Denton went to her very first 'A' rated show with amazing results on her amazing horse Class Act. Moving up from doing 2'6" - 2'9" at our local shows to 3'0-3'3" at the SB National. She pinned 2nd in her first class of the week the 1.00M open jumpers. She was also Champion in the Juvenile Hunters, and took a piece of the Low CH/AA Jumper Classic. You impressed us all Delani.

Madison Wedderspoon rode Max Factor for the Meyer/Vogelzangs in some pony classes and some juvenile hunter classes to school the young pony around. They took home great ribbons and looked like a polished pair by the end of the week. Thanks Maddie for your hard work riding the ponies! (she also rode My Private Jet for the England's)

Denise took her Naturally The Best just to school around and travel with the barn. He got to show for 3 more weeks in showpark...

2009

Congratulations to Angelina Kozlowski and her "Notorious" on being Late Circuit Champions in the AA 18-35 jumpers. Champion week V, and placed well in the classics. Always in the ribbons.

Angelina also leased John Endicott's "Ice Man" for the last two weeks of showing. They won their first two classes in the AA 18-35, beating herself into 2nd place on Littorio. They were Reserve Champion Week VII. Thank you John for letting us borrow this amazing horse.

Stephanie Meyer moved up to the Low A/O with her new mount Lalique. The courses were tough and I know Stephanie learned a lot. Congrats on your ribbons.

Stephanie also piloted her Asterix 311 up to the Modified Jr/Am jumpers with success. Congrats on all your ribbons on Asterix in the Mod!!
